Upcoming Elden Ring DLC: Bad News from Kadokawa

Media

Wait seated, Sinluz! The parent company of FromSoftware has thrown a wet blanket on everyone waiting for the imminent extra content for Elden Ring.

Elden Ring on PC, Steam Deck, Xbox, PS4, and PS5 has a pending DLC release. But despite its mysteries and secrets, FromSoftware still hasn’t provided a date, and Kadokawa may have lowered expectations of seeing it anytime soon.

Despite updates on the Valve platform, which many see as an imminent release, and the recent leak of an Xbox controller on PlayAsia, the development is far from over.

It’s been rumored that it has entered the quality control testing phase, but so much anticipation for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is not good, and Kadokawa has shared new details in its most recent fiscal report.

In the FAQ section of this report, the company has given an update on the development status of the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

We are currently working hard on the development of the DLC for Elden Ring, but we have not announced a release date at this time,” it says.

It may – with certainty – not be the kind of information many want to know, especially for those expecting to see it on the 2nd anniversary of the Soulslike.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is still in development, that’s for sure

As reported by PC Gamer, it seems like a typical message to reassure shareholders that everything is fine. But perhaps it would be wiser not to expect anything until the next fiscal year begins on April 1, 2024.

The report also indicates “several measures currently underway for Elden Ring, including the development of a large DLC to maximize [lifetime value]” at FromSoftware.

This is in addition to the mobile game in development, but interestingly, it is not mentioned in the report. Kadokawa only confirms that the DLC is still in development and that we should wait a bit longer.

In December 2023, the producer of Elden Ring -Yasuhiro Kitao- spoke similarly at the PlayStation Partner Awards in Japan: “I will speak about the DLC another time. There’s still a bit of a way to go, but progress is going well.

Like ‘Bloodborne,’ it has new battles and new characters. Expect new things,” he said. Although he also admitted not knowing why it was selling so well.

The parent company of FromSoftware has commented on the Elden Ring DLC and has bad news for fans, especially because Kadokawa doesn’t know the release date for Shadow of the Erdtree.
