Director Duncan Jones confirmed in 2018 that he was working on the film adaptation of Rogue Trooper, a comic published in 2000AD. Since then, not much more was known about the film. However, six years later, the publisher has finally confirmed that filming has finished and revealed the leading actors: Aneurin Barnard and Jack Lowden will lead the film alongside Hayley Atwell, known for her role as Agent Carter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

To everyone’s surprise, the project will be the first film produced entirely in Unreal Engine 5, the graphics engine owned by Epic Games that has caused a sensation since its launch. Filming of the film has just concluded in the United Kingdom, specifically at Rebellion Film Studios, and it is expected that in the coming months more details about the story, characters, and entire universe of this comic will be revealed.

Rogue Trooper tells the story of a genetic infantryman who ends up being the sole survivor of the invasion of his planet, NU Earth, in a war between those from the North and those from the South. Now, the soldier and three other companions will have a clear mission: find the general who betrayed his people.
