The Poketpair game, Palworld, has closed January with strong numbers. It has officially surpassed 19 million players within two weeks of its launch, making it an overwhelming success. The game has sold approximately 12 million copies on Steam and has 7 million players from Xbox, making it the third most successful launch on Microsoft’s video game service. In comparison, the recent Pokémon Scarlet and Purple games surpassed the 20 million games sold mark in just over a month.
The success of Palworld becomes even more evident when compared to other Pokémon games. Pokémon Legends: Arceus sold 6.5 million copies in seven days, while the remakes Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl reached close to 14 million in a month and a half. Palworld’s unique twist on the Pokémon formula, where players capture monsters with bullets and enslave them to build bases, has captivated millions of players.
Despite its success, Palworld is not resting on its laurels. The game plans to introduce Player vs. Player mode, cross-play, new islands, monsters, and more. It is set to become the first phenomenon of 2024, with its mods adding to its appeal.
It is expected that The Pokémon Company will celebrate Pokémon Day at the end of the month, but Palworld shows no signs of slowing down.
