Nintendo Switch Sales Exceed 139 Million Consoles

Nintendo data updated before the beginning of 2024, with sales of Switch surpassing 139 million consoles sold, Super Mario Bros. Wonder selling almost 12 million, and Super Mario RPG with more than 3 million games sold.

Nintendo makes it clear that the Switch is still VERY much alive in 2024, before the year even began, it had sold over 139 million consoles and Super Mario Bros. Wonder had exceeded 11 million in total.

These figures are worldwide and as of December 31, 2023, according to data updated by the company in its latest earnings release.

A total of 6.9 million Nintendo Switch units and 66.87 million games were sold during the three-month period ending on the last day of 2023.

With regard to hardware, by continuing to communicate the appeal of Nintendo Switch, we strive not only to put one console in every home, but several […], or even one for each person.

Another goal is to continuously launch new offers so that more consumers keep playing Nintendo Switch even longer and we can maximize hardware sales,” the company’s statement reads.

Nintendo also shared updated sales figures for its exclusive titles, leaving the 10 best-selling games on Nintendo Switch before 2023 ended:

In this case, we see that Super Mario Bros. Wonder had a “solid start in sales” with almost 12 million, but that other games also saw significant growth during this fiscal year.

Pikmin 4 with its 3.33 million in sales or Luigi’s Mansion 3 with nearly 14 million games sold. Nintendo assures that the release of Super Mario Bros: The Movie had a positive impact on Mario game sales.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe saw sales of 6.79 million units […] the total number of titles with million-selling sales during this period was 24, including titles from other publishers,” they claim.

They also mentioned that “Nintendo Switch sales continued to be steady in the seventh year since its launch.

With hardware sales of 13.74 million units (7.8% year-on-year decline) and software sales of 163.95 million units (4.7% year-on-year decline) in this period“.

According to the company, they have now sold more than 1.200.10 million games for Nintendo Switch worldwide; figures to be fully proud of.

Now that Nintendo has updated its fiscal data with a Switch that has sold over 139 million units, we wonder if the console has a known limit.
