Monster Hunter World and Iceborne Expansion Sell Over 30 Million Copies

The Japanese company updates its list of ”platinum titles”, which shows its best-selling video games on PC, consoles, and mobile devices to date.

One of the most transparent companies in the industry, which is also going through a sweet moment, is Capcom. The creators of Resident Evil and Monster Hunter are experiencing an idyllic situation in the current generation of consoles.

Currently, Capcom is working on up to five Resident Evil projects, as well as Monster Hunter Wilds, new installments of Ace Attorney, and not ruling out the possibility of old IP returns.

Just take a look at Capcom’s recent releases, such as Resident Evil 4 Remake or Street Fighter 6, to see that the business is going strong.

But watch out, because the same can be said for “legacy” games, such as Monster Hunter World or Resident Evil Revelations, which are the main protagonists of the platinum titles list.

Let’s go over the most notable changes in Capcom’s list of best-selling games, because there’s a lot to talk about.

## Monster Hunter World reaches a new sales record

In the top spot of Capcom’s platinum titles ranking is Monster Hunter World, the acclaimed 2018 hunting game. For some time now, the title has been experiencing a curious resurgence on Steam.

Monster Hunter World has sold a whopping 19.6 million copies to date. That’s half a million more than the previous count.

Pay attention, because if we add the sales of its Iceborne expansion, we come up with more than 30 million units sold. Absolutely mind-blowing.

Resident Evil 4 Remake and Street Fighter 6, on the other hand, have sold 6.4 million and 2.9 million copies respectively. The Sunbreak expansion for Monster Hunter Rise has sold over 7 million.

A curious fact is that Resident Evil Revelations, a game that has been around for quite a while, has just reached the million mark in sales with its PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Next, here’s the top 10 best-selling games from Capcom:

1. Monster Hunter World: 19.60 million units
2. Monster Hunter Rise: 14.20 million units
3. Resident Evil 2 Remake: 13.60 million units
4. Resident Evil 7: 13 million units
5. Monster Hunter World Iceborne: 11.60 million units
6. Resident Evil Village: 9.30 million units
7. Resident Evil 5: 9 million units
8. Resident Evil 6: 9 million units
9. Resident Evil 3 Remake: 8.40 million units
10. Devil May Cry 5: 7.80 million units

At this rate, it is very possible that Monster Hunter World will continue to lead Capcom’s platinum games ranking for a long, long time.

Another game to keep an eye on is Pragmata, the lunar science fiction adventure that is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. So far, no release window has been specified, following the delay suffered in 2023.
