The remake of Persona 3 includes a new mechanic that makes the Atlus JRPG adventure easier. We show you how it works and what you need to know about it.
One of the best JRPGs in history has recently returned with a remake worthy of the circumstances. We are talking about Persona 3 Reload, the outstanding return of the Atlus role-playing game, first launched in 2006.
In its day, many players missed out on Persona 3, the installment that forever changed the course of the IP, which was originally linked to Shin Megami Tensei in Japan.
Persona 3 Reload is the definitive version of the PlayStation 2 classic, which not only respects the original story starring Makoto Yuki, but also incorporates some novelties.
One of them is the “Rewind” feature, which basically allows us to rewind time. In this guide, we tell you how to activate it and how this mechanic works in Persona 3 Reload.
How to rewind time
The “Rewind” feature allows us to travel to any recent moment in the story that we have previously saved. It is an exclusive feature of Persona 3 Reload, which is presented as a solution to certain situations in the adventure.
To access this feature, you must first pause the game. Now, you must go to the “System” tab, which is the last one that appears on the screen. It is right below “Calendar.”
Once inside, look for the “Rewind” option, which is the second to last one shown on this screen. It is just below “Save data,” and before “Return to title.”
All you have to do is click on “Rewind.” However, you should know that it is a one-way trip, and that you cannot save progress if you cannot do it in the present timeline.
We can rewind to the last five free periods of Persona 3 Reload. Free periods include all those that are unrelated to a plot event, cinematics, exams, school trips, or Full Moon events.
It is not possible to use this function to repeat a plot event, an exam, or a trip, but yes to return to the free slots for Makoto Yuki, whether daytime or nighttime.
You should also know that, once the rewind is executed, it is not possible to return forward, nor to exceed the five free periods by repeatedly rewinding time. It could be said that it is like a data loading function, but with nuances.
The Rewind feature is one of the most useful in Persona 3 Reload, as it allows us to correct some secondary decisions we have made, especially those related to social bonds. The game is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.
