After being awarded the GOTY 2023, I finally decided to begin my adventure in the Larian Studios title, Baldur’s Gate 3, which has been waiting for me in the Steam library since August when my partner Frankie kindly gifted it to me. I made a brief attempt at the game during the hot summer days which convinced me that I was onto something big, but then life got in the way, and I put it on hold.

Now, I have finally decided to dive into the universe of Dungeons & Dragons for the first time, without ever having had any experience with a role-playing game. I am looking forward to exploring this new world and embracing any mistakes I might make along the way.

Before beginning my epic journey, I spent over an hour perfecting my character in the game’s editor. The plethora of options made this a fun and interactive experience, allowing me to customize every detail according to my preferences.

I chose to be a rogue, focusing on stealth and using wits to outsmart my opponents in combat. My character, a Tiefling, will allow me to take advantage of fire immunity, while adding an element of attraction to the race’s appearance.

As I commenced my journey in the game, the complex HUD and interface initially overwhelmed me, but I soon started adapting and learning through trial and error.

The game proved to be disconcerting as a newcomer to the genre, and I had many questions about the mechanics and actions within the game. However, with time, I was able to understand and master these components while learning through my defeats.

The many rolls and continuous situations in the game added depth and excitement to the experience, requiring me to be constantly aware and attentive to my surroundings.

I also encountered various opponents and scenarios in the game, learning valuable lessons from each attempt. Even when faced with challenges and frustrations, the game offered me an entertaining and engaging experience.

Overall, I found the game intriguing and enjoyable, offering an immersive and challenging experience. I am looking forward to pouring many hours into exploring and mastering the world of Baldur’s Gate 3.
