Motion Twin’s popular game Dead Cells has received immense expansion of content over the years through free updates, expansions, and collaborations, making it an exceptional roguelike worth playing again and again.

However, after constantly adding dozens of new features, it is now time to bid farewell. Evil Empire has announced that the latest update, The End is Near, will be the final one for Dead Cells, and no new content will be added after that.

After five years, four DLCs, 18 updates, epic crossovers, and a mobile version, Evil Empire will no longer work on Dead Cells. The team expresses pride in the work done on the game, gratitude to Motion Twin for the opportunity, and appreciation for the incredible community. They reassure fans that the Dead Cells team will continue working on new secret projects, with more details to be revealed soon.

In addition to the final update for PC and consoles, the mobile version of Dead Cells is also scheduled to receive an update before the end of the year. The team has refocused its efforts on other projects, including a Dead Cells animated series produced by Motion Twin and the French studio Bobbypills, set to debut in the summer of 2023.
