Christian Bale to Star in Frankenstein Movie Directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal
Christian Bale will star alongside Jessie Buckley, Annette Bening, Penélope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard in a Frankenstein movie directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal that begins filming this month.
Christian Bale is about to start production on his new feature film, directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, which does not yet have a title but will be set following the events of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, following the approach used in James Whale’s 1935 film, The Bride of Frankenstein.
The first news about the new movie from Maggie Gyllenhaal, produced by Warner Bros., emerged last summer, and now Christian Bale confirms new details about it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“I have to shave my head next week [for a film],” said Christian Bale, as production of his new feature film will begin in the coming weeks, and he will have to prepare to play the Frankenstein monster.
“I asked them, please, could I just wait to shave it, but everybody was like: ‘What’s wrong with Bale? What’s wrong with Bale?’ I said: Please, just let me get past the start of the shoot, and then I will join in”.
“I’ll be working with the marvelous Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jessie Buckley, and many talented cast members. I’ve got to knuckle down, break bones, and eat lots of dung or something to try to grow”.
Penélope Cruz will also be in the cast of Frankenstein
According to the latest reports, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s movie will focus on the monster of Frankenstein’s search for love.
Christian Bale’s character, leading a solitary life, will travel to 1930s Chicago in search of Dr. Euphronius, to create a partner with whom to share his hardships. Together, they will revive a murderer, giving birth to the Bride.
Christian Bale will share the screen with Jessie Buckley, Annette Bening, Penélope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Frankenstein movie, although their roles have not yet been confirmed.
