I had the opportunity to play the demo for Star Trucker during Steam Next Fest 2024, and I must say that I’m already looking forward to having it in my library. The game caught my attention when I saw it at the Future Games Show event during Summer Game Fest 2023, and I even dedicated an article to it. Finally being able to try the demo, I spent several hours playing and exploring the game’s features.
The demo of Star Trucker is quite impressive, although it does have some drawbacks that could be improved. One issue is that it does not have any type of save feature, so if you leave the game for any reason, you have to start over from the beginning. Additionally, the demo crashed during the game, freezing at a certain point and making it impossible to continue.
The tutorials also lacked in some areas, as the game has many buttons and utilities that the tutorials don’t teach, making it difficult to navigate and understand certain features of the game. Despite these drawbacks, the game offers a unique simulation experience set in space, with the player taking on the role of an intergalactic space trucker.
The game requires constant maintenance of the truck’s different systems, and it offers a challenging yet rewarding experience. The way of working in Star Trucker is similar to American/Euro Truck Simulator, with various steps to complete in order to transport cargo from one location to another.
Overall, I believe that the Star Trucker demo shows great potential, and with a few improvements, it has the potential to be a compelling game for a specific type of player. I’m looking forward to its release in 2024 and anticipate spending many hours playing it.
