Ethiopia: Near 3000 Adama University students graduate
About 3000 students of AU who completed their studies in under and post graduate programs celebrated their graduation ceremony colorfully on July 10, 2010. Out of these graduates 111 of them are the first batch of graduates in the post graduate program.

More than 10,000 guests and families of the graduates started arriving to AU's compound from 6.00 am. Two huge halls were made ready one for the graduating students and guests of honor while the other was for families of the graduates where they watched the ceremony in live video transmission.
H.E. Junedi Sado, Minister of Science and Technology and Chairman of AU's Supervisory Board and high officials representing the Germany Embassy were the guests of honor.

This year's very great distinction student from all the Schools, Woldai Gebremedhin from School Pedagogic and Vocational Teacher Education, received the cup from the hands of H.E. Junedi Sado. A post graduate, Meseret Diriba from Accounting and Finance department also got a gold medal for completing with cumulative GPA of 4.00.
'I would like to congratulate you all for completing your studies in AU where great development is taking place and in a university heading to international standards,' said H.E Junedi Sado in his closing speech.
July 10, 2010 has also witnessed another millstone in the history of higher education. For the first time in the country AU awarded the prestigious academic distinction of being a Honorary Senator of Adama University to Engineer Abebe Negash. The newly introduced award in the country is to decorate and appreciate outstanding personalities, friends and supporters of the university.

'Abebe Negash can be characterized as being a very successful entrepreneur, humble and dedicated to social responsiblity. As such he is a role model for our students and graduates. I highly recommend to the Adama University community: accept the Abebe Negash paradigm for your own benefit and for the benefit of the country,' said AU's President Prof. Dr. Herbert Eichele in his speech to introduce Eng. Abebe to the ceremony's audience.

Eng. Abebe is owner and successful General Manager of Finfine Construction Plc. which he managed for the last 40 years.
