Weekly Poll: Which group is best for Oromo people of Ethiopia?
Dr. Merera Gudina (OPC), Bulcha Demeksa (OFDM), Dawud Ibsa (OLF), Judge Birtukan Mideksa (UDJ) Sufian Ahmed (OPDO)

Weekly Poll: Which political group is best for Oromo people of Ethiopia?

Over the years, several political organizations have been created to promote the interest of Oromo people separately and in some cases the interest of Oromo people in an Ethiopian umbrella. Members of famous opposition groups like OFDM, OPC and OLF are known to have their beginnings and influences from the Mecha and Tulama Association (MTA).

Meanwhile, the Oromo Peoples Democratic Organization (OPDO) functions as part of the EPRDF ruling party of Meles Zenawi. The Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) has been engaged in a low-level armed struggle against Ethiopian governments for decades and it is currently led by Dawud Ibsa. OPDO's leading figures are Minister of Finance Sufian Ahmed and Minister of Trade Girma Birru.

The Oromo Federalist Democratic Movement (OFDM) legal opposition party in Ethiopia has been led by Bulcha Demeksa and Dr Moga Frissa while another opposition group, the Oromo Peoples Congress (OPC),  is led by Dr. Merera Gudina. Another young and large opposition party led by Judge Birtukan Mideksa, Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ), brings a diverse political agenda and option for Oromos. All five political organizations and their programs are well-known.

By the way , since when ....
I would never ever believe any amhara affiliated group (UDJ) can serve the cause of Oromos , in fact any Ethiopians apart from the amharas them selves. I strongly believe the shewa amharas are higly selfish and the oromo people will be better off even working with EPRDF will at least preserve your dignity , although EPRDF may have some problem politically. i.e at least in Ormomia , Tigres are not ruling ormoms . Do you remembered some 20 years ago , not only in federal level but also in oromia there were these stupid amharas running the government.

Viva Birtukan
If you read UDJ's program is not far from what OPC or OFDM puts in it program about the Oromo people. For those Oromos who see real change can be bring from the big umbrella, I think UDJ is better.

Of course OLF is the best!
No question OLF is the best and the most loved by Oromos. We can put the Organizations in spectrum:

- OPDO is as an organization the slave of the dominant Tigreans, of course excluding genuine OLF people doing their job being camouflaged as OPDO

- UDJ is loved by Oromos being assimilated as Amhara (biological Oromos, but psychological Amharas); it may fight for freedom of Oromo people, but autonomy or sovereignity of Oromo land is not its agenda

- OFC (OFDM & OPC) is explicitly interested only for freedom of Oromo people and autonomy of Oromo land in Ethiopian context, of course excluding OLF people doing their job also here.

- OLF is the one which overtly fights for both freedom of Oromo people and sovereignity of Oromo land, which is the END goal of Oromo liberation movement.

So looking at this spectrum, we Oromos try to keep the status quo using OPDO to hinder the reversal of the hitherto achieved victories; then struggle for our freedom using UDJ, OFC and OLF to move more steps forward; and at last we do strive to reach our goal of both freedom and sovereignity using OLF. That is why OLF is the best!!

all oromo organizations (OPC/OLF/OFDM) must unite by ignoring their small diferences

the OPDO(tigre) and UDJ(amhara) groups are rats and snakes, no oromo (except assimilated fools) would ever support these 2 abyssinian groups

I hope we Oromos have not to to be racist. Of course we have to struggle any opperession, but we have to be willing to live with our brothers and sisters of other nations (amhara, tigray, etc). We have to learn how to live peacefully with the others. There is nothing that we can get from war.

As for the choosing, I will go for OPDO. They can work together with the people from other states. That is how we can show that we are not racists. we have to avoid racism and hatred from our mind, and we have to teach the poor how to work and live peacefully in Ethiopia.

I do not mean that we have to sit with onse hands tied if there are things that go against the more common purpose of ours. But, the idea of becomming indepenedent Oromo, I strictly oppose it.

I wish the people of Oromo to live in peace with the other people of Ethiopia!

Peace be on us all!
