Poll: Who is the greatest athlete in Ethiopia’s history?

Weekly Poll: Who is the greatest athlete in Ethiopia’s history?

(JT) The international media is talking about Bolt vs. Bekele once again, comparing two of the best runners in world history. Kenenisa has won more individual IAAF World gold medals, world records and more Olympic medals than the Jamaican Usain Bolt so the comparison might not be realistic. But, the Kenenisa Bekele Vs. Usain Bolt debate in the media in regards to who should be crowned as the “the greatest athlete of all time” might not be legitimate if Kenenisa is not even the best athlete inside Ethiopia.

There have been many other legends, record breakers and great athletes in Ethiopian history.

Over the years, Ethiopia has been the most accomplished African nation in winning gold medals in major world athletic competitions while Kenya has had the deepest teams. Of all the legendary Ethiopian runners, who do you think is the greatest in history?

My guess is Bekele too. But well, let's drop the comparison, the excel on their own division. There's no way we could compare them if we let them run together and see who wins. Besides, I love black people, they run fast, they had beautiful voice, and they have different types of talents. Sometimes I joked at my family that maybe the reason why black people won every race is that, they don't have a car in their countries and they run their errands without shoes or slippers and their nearest errand or neighbor is kilometers farther away.

All but not one
All of them were the best at their category and time. Everything is changing. For now who is the most appreciated of all time maybe the likely question? Ethiopia has never been short of the greatest athlete. It isnot fair to compare them this way. All of them have place in history.

I would rather ask, "which nation, except the Oromo has ever won intenational athletics for more than 40 years both in men and women?"

Practically none, but the Oromo!!!

Congratulations to Ilmaan Abbaa Gadaa!

Abebe Bikila
Abebe Bikila because he was the first to inspire the rest. Abebe bekilla said after wining that race "I wanted the world to know that my country, Ethiopia, has always won with determination and heroism" God bless Abebe Bikila!
