Poll: Which is most likely to happen in Ethiopia in 2010?
Credit - ap
Ethiopians hope for a peaceful future

As the 2010 New Year begins in most parts of the world, many are setting a New Year’s resolution and hoping for a better future. For Ethiopians, there are many aspirations and dreams unfulfilled.

Some Ethiopians hope that constitutional rule and democracy will be finally established in Ethiopia in 2010 while others wish for peace in the war torn Ogaden region. Many also want President Isaias Afeworki of Eritrea to reconcile with Prime Minister Meles Zenawi.

Millions of Ethiopians wish to see opposition leader Judge Birtukan Mideksa released while some Oromo opposition supporters hope to see reconciliation between different Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) factions. The year 2010 could be a good year when millions of Ethiopians become food self-sufficient, when Oil is finally found in Ethiopia, when pro-democracy Somaliland’s independence is recognized by AU in Addis Ababa; or it can be a bloody year when the war with Eritrea restarts and when Ethiopian troops reoccupy Mogadishu.

Which is the most likely to happen in 2010?

I have a dream that year 2010 will the year which will be marked by TPLF re-writing, and re-defining in a typical Ethiopian way, the fundamental principles of the "Democracy". Meles Zinaw will be Re-elected not only for one more term, but for a LIFE!!!!

Happy new year!!!!!!!!!!!

This would be most probably happen
Reconciliation between Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) factions and even with Oromo federalist movement s in Ethiopia. This will be encourage many OPDOs to join OLF to end 21century subjugation in Oromia.

ethiopia will not win african footbal tournament for the next 1000 yaers
very small chance

in fact, OLF has a better chance of liberating one oromo village in century than ethiopia winning football

2010 Somaliland recognition
My prediction is, in this year 2010, as you rightly pointed out, pro democracy Somaliland nation will finally get its long overdue de jure recognition. Although, at the moment Somaliland enjoys de factor recognition, but i foresee de jure recognition coming this year. It is my sincere hope that, Ethopia will be the first nation to recognize Somaliland. Lastly, I wish all the people of Ethopia a happy and progressive year 2010.

OLF will not unite in 2010 or in 3010!
No need to predict in Ethiopia. If you remember what has happened last year, you could certainly increase the magnitude to come to the correct conclusion, particularity if the happening was in a negative direction. As an example, their would be more hunger, more politically motivated torture and more vote rigging in Ethiopia. That does not need a rocket science degree.

What I certainly think will never happen in 2010 is that the stupid and retarded OLF leaders will never come together to end the deadlock and advance our cause. I know that will not happen as we Oromo are genetically determined to destroy Oromo and Oromia more than the Abyssinians do! Good for nothing society that is led by incompetent parochial groups who are hell-bent on destroying our organization for personal gains!
