In Pictures: Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) fighters in southern Ethiopia

Reuters photojournalists captured pictures of Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) fighters in southern Ethiopia near the border town of Moyale. According to the group’s leaders, its mission is to lead “the national liberation struggle of the Oromo people against the Abyssinian colonial rule.”

The OLF, which has offices in Washington D.C. and Oromo supporters worldwide, says it has a strong anti-terrorism policy and it would go “an extra mile in search of peaceful resolution of the political crisis” in Ethiopia. Oromo is the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia and nearly one million Oromos also live in northern Kenya.

It is not a matter of majority that brings freedom and peace but the kind of wish for prosperity and love for others. If it were with majority OLFs would have succeded at the begnning. Rather they are at their start for above 40 years because their propaganda is mainly hatred against others, they will stay on their intial point forever. But what is surprising is that they pretend as if they brought change. change is always there trough time what is not changing through time is OLFs, still in idology of old centuries.

Think Oromo Please
Oromo is the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia but look how many men and women are fighting for, to liberate Oromia, they are not even 200 men and women, they are out number by thier enemies, than let oromo nation ask themself, can they lead to the independent of oromia, the answer will come from real oromo person, look how all tigray people fight until they got vitory. but oromo people , they want to fight while they sitting down thier enemies. think???????????????

Doubt
I am Oromo. I have history of losing my innocent Oromo brother who was killed by OLF solders. There are other similar cases in the history of OLF freedom fighters. What I am afraid of lies on the following question. Does OLF actually know what it stands for? Or is it their ego that couldn't give them rest?

How about other citizens who are half Oromo and half from the others, but who love more of their Oromo identity and heritage than any other, who love the independence of Oromia much more than the others. My doubt is that, when Oromo people deservingly gain their independence that they will treat the half-blooded brothers as true Oromo citizens.

I am scared of my Oromo brothers just because they fight for the sake of their religion, which means they may kill their Oromo brother who is either ethiest, Waqeffata, Christian, or Muslim as far as he is not one of them. But why are we living with uncivilised way of life? I believe OLF may have learn through their mistakes. Otherwise OLF can't be a solution to the Oromos rather than becoming the worst coloniser within ourselves. We all should leave religion aside and let everyone decide what is best for them and also respect the religion of others.

The other thing is how Borana fighters can be Liberators of Wollega, shoa, Illubabour, Jimma, Arsi, Bale, Hararghe, Wollo, etc., and the vise-versa. It doesn't feel right. If we are saying independence of Oromia is inevitable, all people from each and every territory of Oromia should have their input in the peaceful and military actions.

We need Open minded, flexible, talented, experienced, charismatic, honest, well determined, opportunistic OLF leaders than those ones who lead by only their animal instinct, and easily manipulated by enemies, faint-hearted, ignorant, and corrupted.

I some time fond of our Oromo ancestors who were highly civilized socially and politically and invented "Mogassa" and "Gudifecha" to ensure their intellectual and political dominance wherever they advanced to reclaim their land. We need creative ideology to make sure our success is also closer.

I am proudly African but sometimes it is embarrassing and awkward to admit that there is something is wrong with that. For instance, when you look at Congo, Rwanda, Sudan, Somalia, etc., African people have corrupted, uncivilized, and poorly evolved culture that still survived the dynamics of 21st century. Shame really. But I want the case of Oromo struggle to be quite different such that it is well advanced, sophisticated, highly evolved with broad-mindedness, courage of standing for freedom of brothers and sisters than self-serving greediness.
