In Pictures: Oromo Ethiopian Students in Europe call for justice
Jimma Times
The Union of Oromo Students in Europe (UOSE) organized a peaceful demonstration in Brussels on May 22 asking for democracy and justice in Ethiopia, particularly for ethnic Oromo Ethiopians who have long been marginalized in the horn of Africa country.
The UOSE asked for the UN to initiate an inquiry into allegations of human rights abuses perpetrated by the Ethiopian government. The group submitted their letters of concern to the European Commission, European Council, UK embassy in Brussels and USA embassy in Brussels. The UOSE also called for the "unity of the Ethiopian democratic forces" while asking the Ethiopian government to "release all detained political prisoners."
The peaceful demonstration by UOSE was organized together by the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO).
