On the day the world celebrates women, VOA conducted a Vox Pop in several parts of Ethiopia and found that conditions for women have greatly improved.
VOA
reporters in Addis Ababa and Mekelle took their microphones to the streets to
measure public attitudes during the International Day for Women. According to interviews with a policewoman, a
nurse, a woman who sells food on the streets of Addis, domestics workers and a
prostitute, opportunities have gotten better for woman in several ways: there
is now a law that protects women from harassment, and Ethiopia's business and
educational institutions have opened their doors to more women.
