Several EPRDF troops killed by rebels near Harar Ethiopia
Harar Ethiopia

According to information received by The Indian Ocean Newsletter, a deadly skirmish occurred on 16 November in a place known as Jaketa, situated between Harar and Babile in the east of Ethiopia. It pitted government soldiers of the South Eastern Command against unidentified rebel forces and is believed to have made several tens of victims among the government troops. Many of the wounded soldiers were treated at the Hiwot Fana Hospital and other hospitals in Harar.

Although no organisation has yet officially claimed responsibility for this action, it is highly likely that those involved were Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) rebels, the most active group in this region. However, according to some witnesses, several of these attackers spoke to each other in the Amhara language, which is not so common in the ranks of the ONLF. They may have been instructors from outside this region of Ethiopia. This military confrontation occurred after arms were stolen in Harar at the beginning of the month, a theft attributed to ONLF rebels

OLF: Where art thou??
If this is not truly a sign of OLF being dead then i dont know what is. They are in oromo land, and i have a huge hunch these are far eastern oromos in the onlf. Before people in these lands were for iflo and olf and rejecting the somali. Now maybe not so much.

TPLF Officer Killed 9 High Ranking Officers then Commits Suicide
Monday, 30 November 2009 23:22
Reports reaching the Ogaden Online service desk confirm a recent killing spree carried out by a high ranking Tigrian People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) officer. Reliable sources who are closer to the Woyane militias indicated that the officer who went on the rampage was the deputy of the Woyane militias in Cobosha. The officer is said to be a colonel named Ajara Ajara. He is also said to have survived the recent ONLA commando attacks in the area.

Multiple sources reported that this officer was the sole survivor of the recent ONLA commando attack in the area. It is also reported that upon him reaching the town of Fiiq, he was summoned to a Woyane militia officers’ meeting. Sources who were present in the meeting indicated that about 60 officers took part in the meeting. In the meeting, colonel Ajara was accused of being a coward which, according to two independent sources, infuriated colonel Ajara. He is said to have known the fate of an officer accused of cowardice.

Upon listening attentively to the accusations, it is reported that colonel Ajara took out a hand grenade and threw it in the direction of the senior officers who were leading the meeting. It is reported that 9 officers died on the spot, while up to 38 officers are said to have been gravely injured. It is also reported that colonel Ajara committed suicide in the meeting hall.

ONLF is making great stride's, as a show of its increasing increasing strength and reach, it is penetrating deep into western regions of Harar and Bale. The ogaden will be the number one catalyst for Meles Zenawi's fall, as thousands fill the ranks of the ONLF, the momentum is increasing and this will be the first region which the TPLF will loose.

Bakele.

Boo hoo cry me a river.

Alula

Well seems your knowledge of the state is very Dim. your so stupid, Harar host's one of the largest Ethiopian Military outpost's, its from Harar where Ethiopia Co-ordinate's it continued Occupation of the Ogaden. If This Base is dismantled, then the TPLF will loose all connection to the east of the country.

And Harar is an Adari settlement...not Isaq/dir. And Federal Soldiers have base's across the Ogaden you imbecile. Somali's only do Policing and rarely fight the Front.

Harar: An Ethiopian town under high surveillance
In the afternoon and evening of 3 November, the town of Harar in the eastern part of the country was under high military surveillance. Some army vehicles carrying machine guns drove through the town, checking the streets. The reason for this movement was that arms had been stolen from a military depot in the town.

A certain Major Hassan Warsame Mohamed was arrested and transfered to Addis Ababa, accused of collaborating with agents of the OgadenNational Liberation Front (ONLF, armed opposition) to carry out the theft. According to certain local observers it is not unusual for government army officers, including Tigrayans, to be involved in illegal arms deals in Ethiopia.
