Blogger/ Addis I am hearing many radios and I am reading so many online reports that the KINIJIT/ CUD opposition party is about to breaking down forever. I beg to differ. In fact, I am very mad that online sources like Ethiopian Review, Jimma Times, Nazret and others are reporting about this development as a big deal. This is not a big deal. Some websites are even reporting statements from KIL, KIC and their members. Didn’t these Diaspora groups dissolve to give full authority to CUD Ethiopia? I don’t understand why they are all of the sudden working individually. Also the blog I read yesterday on Jimma Times is extremely annoying! The reality is, CUD party is much stronger than it ever was! We all know that when organizations undergo thru suffering they tend to unite more and strengthen. This is what I see in CUD. After the imprisonment of their leaders, they came out more dedicated and ready to serve Ethiopia.
Some people are saying CUD supporters in Ethiopia are united but CUD suporters are not united in the Diaspora. This is another FALSE assumption. When the anti-government developments on cyberspace become too overwhelming, pro-government propaganda websites always say that only 2% of Ethiopian Diaspora is online so it is no big deal. So CUD can say the same thing because only a very small minority in the Diaspora is stirring up the disorder.
In fact, even smaller than 2% of the Diaspora is affected by the confusion inside the Berhanu Nega Vs Hailu Shawel debate. A good example is the huge number of Ethiopians meeting CUD delegations in Washington D.C., New York, Boston and other places. Personally I went to greet both the Berhanu Nega delegation and the Shawel delegation this month. I have no favoritism because they are both important to CUD in their own ways. When I went to meet them at the airport, the emotion of their numerous supporters never showed any concern or uneasiness. Indeed, the majority of Diaspora Ethiopians don’t even know about the chaos in the pal talk rooms and cyberspace. They still see CUD as the only way forward to bringing Democracy to Ethiopia. And there is no need for anyone to doubt that CUD will come out victorious.
