Dictator suspends Eritrea's Football team fearing disappearance - Blog
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

By Blogger Addis

Eritrea’s dictator Isaias Afeworki is famous for his shoot to kill policy if any Eritrean is found crossing the country’s border with Sudan or Ethiopia. Even if thousands of Eritreans still manage to cross the borders every month, hundreds of innocent Eritreans have died over the years under the dictator’s rule. Their crime was just for trying to escape the ongoing dictatorship and famine in Eritrea.

Now the dictator has even banned the Eritrean National Football team from leaving the country.

According to Kenyan media, the dictator Isaias regime has suspended his country’s participation in the CECAFA tournament. There are many possible reasons given. One reason was that the Isaias government does not have money for the team. But that is ironic, because the Isaias government has been pretending like there is no famine. The Eritrean dictator was saying his regime has plenty of revenue from recent investment on natural resources in the country. He was boasting about his economic success. Now he is saying his government has no money for a small football tournament in Tanzania?

Maybe the dictator is playing games again. Recently Kenya accused him of financing terrorists in Somalia. So maybe He wants to prove to Kenya that his regime has no money to pay for a football team let alone to finance the al Shabaab terrorists in Somalia.

Another possible reason is that the Eritrean football team is terrible…even worse than the worst teams like Somalia.

But the most likely reason is that the dictator knows that all Eritreans hate him, even the national football team. In 2009, the whole Eritrean national team disappeared and applied for asylum in Kenya. Again recently in July, more Eritrean footballers fled to Tanzania. Historically in 2006 and before, many Eritrean athletes and footballers have disappeared. Unlike other African refugees, it is the elite and top Eritrean sportsmen that disappear and seek political asylum. This shows that there is no more country pride left in Eritrea. The small country never had anything to be proud of other than some colonial buildings and architectures built by Italian colonialists. The mainly desert Eritrea does not have any significant natural resources, historical heritages or unique achievements. The only pride for the country was “the war of independence” against Ethiopia but even that has become useless today, thanks to the dictator Isaias Afewerki. Most Eritreans feel they had more freedom under Ethiopian rule than under the Isaias rule. This explains why tens of thousands of Eritreans have risked being killed to escape back to Ethiopia every day. More than Tens of thousands of Eritreans have left Eritrea and live in Ethiopian refugee camps and even more thousands of Eritreans have left Asmara and have begun new lives in Addis Ababa and other Ethiopian cities.

As of now, the Eritrean dictator has also banned cyclists and other athletes from leaving the country for any international competition.

How come there is no guidelines to write on Jimma Times? All, I mean all comments are defensive, hateful, childish with out a single substance to speak of. Why does it seem that any of you is missing the border war you both created. Don't even attempt to finger point at who started and who funneled it to 3 rounds to maim 19k + 80K youth! Does any of you have 'PEACE' in your vocabulary? How is it possible that you will be able to send a message across with such defensive, spiteful, vengeful attitude. The world would be so much better without your minds. Why don't you mind about own problems. You like it or not 'We are ONE people TWO nations. All you bloggers here need to swallow the poison pill and get over it. No need of WAR of WORDS here. Those words directly or indirectly lead to actual war. Act responsibly. Grow up. If you don't have any thing positive to say about each other, keep it to yourselves. Don't vomit here. Both nations have things to be proud of and be ashamed of. Don't give your leaders blank checks to ran you around. Use your rights. " When people fear their government is DICTATORSHIP, when governments fear their people is DEMOCRACY.

libration or liquidation
I'm quit happy by the missery and suffering of those thankless parasite people called eritreans and soon to be followed by tigre. That is the price of backstabbing ETHIOPIA. Why I don't get is why they are coming back to Ethiopia after 99% of them voted they don't want to be Ethiopian? Ethiopians should burn these people alive or soon we will be back in square one.

A Disturbed Mind Can Talk worse than this ... keep barking Blogger!

From what we read from this so called looser blogger, we understand that he is talk about an imaginary Eritrea created in the minds of many poor Ethiopians by years of constant propaganda by the minority regime of Meles Chenawi of Ethiopia.

Let me help this delusional blogger by putting some correction to his distorted, hatred filled mind, hoping that he and looser like him will read and trying to understanding it.

1) President Isaias is the most loved person in Eritrea.

If the lost blogger has any clue about Eritrea at all, and if everyone Eritrea hates the president is true, then why is that only a dozen of rather forlorn looking Eritreans oppose him against the magnanimous 6,000+ in support of him. It was widely reported that no other visiting African president has ever gather such crowed in support of him.

On the contrary, the magot like Dictator of Ethiopia face a huge opposition whenever he visited Europe or America. Prove me wrong if I mistaken. But here is my proof among many: OVER FIVE THOUSAND ERITREANS GAVE A HERO’S WELCOME TO THEIR PRESIDENT IN NEW YORK http://tesfanews.net/archives/4159

2) About people leaving their country in droves, well that's not something false.

The idea is, Eritreans leave their country because of the US and Ethiopia's ask-no-question-asylum system created to empty the youth out of Eritrea. The hidden rule is never reject Eritrean asking for asylum. The encourage people to leave his country by any means and if he ask an asylum, he will get automatically. That encouraged most youth from Eritrea to sneak out by all means and enter USA and Canada. Every Eritrean in Ethiopian camps knows he is there to go to USA or Canada or even Australia for free. The moment they resettle in USA or the west they start to pump their hard earned dollar to their country and family.

If what the looser blogger thinks were right, and if people flee in thousands because of the dictatorship in Eritrea, why don't the more than 12 opposition groups based in Ethiopia hardly get more than 1,000 soldiers out of the 75,000 refugees?

People leave Eritrea for economic reason and it won't be different for every African country. We have heard recently from UNHCR that there are 80,000 Ethiopian refugees in Somaliland and thousands cross the red sea to fled to Yemen. Of all the country, Yemen and Somaliland??? That's unthinkable for Eritreans.

Try this! If the US or Ethiopia announced there is chance to go to America via Ethiopia, then you will see no one crossing the border.

How about this? If the US or Canada saying no-question-ask-for-Ethiopians asylum seekers policy, the entire Ethiopian, who is under sever poverty and high cost of living would migrate to Kenya or Uganda or Sudan in just 24 hours.

So Eritreans cross the border to get to the USA not to Somaliland or Ethiopia.

3) About the disapperance of Athlets

This is the same as the ask-no-question policy and Eritrean footballers are by no means left the country because of the governments policy. Please read the disappointed New York Time reporter who was expecting the red sea players to abscond in Rwanda last week returned home intact. Disappointed because in his previous article he was so sure that they won't return.

The looser blogger may be forgotten it but 15 Ethiopian athletes abscond in the All African Game this year in Mozambique. Who cares?

And for the record, there are hundreds of Eritrean athletes who do their training in Europe and Canada. Last year Eritrean riders beat every African cyclist in Rwanda. Eritrean cyclists are the champion of Africa last year and this year too.

So if athlets among Eritreans are disatisfied by the government, why don't your a** hole ears never heard of a missing Cyclist or Runner but foot ballers only?

For you say Because Eritrean government has no money, may be you want to say that Eritrean government has no foreign debt. Because if they don't have no money, how the hell can they sponsor this years African Continental Cycling Championship a couple of weeks ago??? In case you know or understand what the word Sponsoring mean???? The government paid around 200,000 USD prize money for Eritrean riders alone ... let alone for the other participant countries....

We were the winners of Tour du Rwanda last year too. The decision not to participate in this years Tour du Rwanda may come from well, after beating Africa's finest cyclist on 9-15 Nov, what is the point of participating in another regional tournament to beat those same countries in a difference of one week (20 Nov)???

When it comes to Eritrea, every Eritrean from in and out comes to one and only ONE. We know what we are doing and why we are doing. Whenever opportunities arise, we seize it whether you call us a refugee or else. Because we think ahead of our nose.

Long live President Isaias Afwerki and Viva Eritrea!!

The dogs are barking .... the Camel kept marching!

Don't worry too much about Eritrea
No worries Mr. miserable blogger. For the benevolent dictator we have, we are in good hands. He is good for Eritrea and please youtube this clip to see the reception he got when he came to see us in NYC.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqYKtnhf9v4

Isaias is one of us and he takes pride to stroll down the streets of Asmara or NYC with no fear whatsoever. On the other hand, Meles would have to come unannounced to any country because he knows what awaits him, i.e., the wrath of angry, marginalized Ethiopians! I know that deepdown you would love to have a leader like Isaias but sorry buddy, you have to deal with Meles!
