Ethiopian gospel singer Melesu Bulcha, also known by her nickname “Mele,” released her new album titled “Ejeg Talak Neh.” The CD has eleven tracks, rich with biblical messages suitable for praise & worship in any Ethiopian Christian denomination church. The album can be found for sale in several Ethiopian churches in North America as well as in local Mulu Wongel (Full Gospel) churches in Ethiopia, where thousands have already been sold.
The majority of the proceeds from selling the album are
donated for the reconstruction of the Akaki branch of Mulu Wongel church, which
is its major promoter. The multi-lingual singer from Oromia region of Ethiopia produced
her album in Amharic language, which is the official and national language of
the country.
Some of her songs like “Kibir Lante” are already becoming a regular feature popular during worship in various churches inside Ethiopia. Most of the songs are a blend of old Ethiopian gospel (Mezmur) tunes and modern instruments as the singer produces a different version of her old unpublished songs from the 1980s for the contemporary audience. Though it comes out of the Mulu Wongel protestant church, the album is targeted toward the around 20 million Ethiopian evangelical and 40 million Ethiopian orthodox audiences.
